About The Position

Oncology at AstraZeneca is unparalleled, with a promising pipeline and a vision to tackle cancer by pushing the boundaries of science. The Competitive Intelligence and Analysis team is central to developing commercial and clinical strategy, impacting decision-making at the highest levels. This role is within a high-achieving Strategy Team, responsible for ensuring pipeline assets are best positioned for return on investment and positive patient outcomes. The Senior Director will shape strategy and influence investment decisions by delivering analysis and insights to Senior Leadership and key partners, ensuring a full understanding of the evolving oncology landscape. This role involves owning the delivery of competitive analysis, using knowledge of the Oncology therapy area and external resources to shape future-proofed therapy area strategies. It requires driving in-depth analysis of clinical and commercial data, generating and communicating critical insights on key issues to provide transparency and respectful challenge to decision-makers. The role offers an opportunity to influence strategy through intellectual agility and communication skills, building trusted relationships. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience working in research and/or with data, analysis and fact-based decision-making

  • Background in oncology, clinical / research or investment analysis
  • PhD in Life Sciences, MD or MBA
  • Background in management consulting, venture capital, private equity, or finance
  • Deep experience with clinical data and analysis (financial models, industry trends)
  • Understanding of the Oncology TA with experience in the pharmaceutical industry or consulting contributing to strategic planning and portfolio decisions
  • In-depth understanding of clinical data, clinical trial design or regulatory frameworks
