About The Position

The Senior Director, Career Connect Sales - Team Lead will serve as a senior sales leader and player-coach people manager within Year Up United’s Career Connect function. In this role, you will build manage a team as well as personally build pipeline to secure revenue via paid employer partnerships with corporations nationwide that result in Year Up United Career Connect students achieving career success. Career Connect is a strategic growth priority designed to deliver lower-cost, scalable workforce solutions that leverage Year Up United's core strengths while expanding access to employers of all sizes and emerging industries. This sales leader will have oversight of a dedicated, entrepreneurial sales organization responsible for generating employer demand, launching employer pilots, and driving earned revenue, as well as providing Sales Development and Sales Support. Reporting to the Career Connect Growth and Impact Leader, this role will require an experienced and dynamic professional to lead a team charged with building brand new relationships in industries including but not limited to healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and skilled trades that yield direct hire, staffing, or work-based options on flexible timelines to partners. The ideal candidate should desire to leverage their demonstrated experience in sales, strategy, and business development practices within our mission-driven social enterprise. A successful Sr. Director will bring a dynamic leadership style and an outcomes-oriented approach to sales management as well as a comfort with ambiguity as we build this important workforce offering. In keeping with Year Up United’s values, the Sr. Director will also have the opportunity to interact with students as coach, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in creating and sustaining a positive educational environment, with trust among students, program managers, and site leaders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of consultative sales experience, requiring strong business acumen and an aggressive, adaptable selling style strongly preferred
• 5+ years of people management experience, including leading by influence
• Successful track record in sales or account management positions
• Excellent networking abilities
• Demonstrated ability to set direction, manage complex processes, and enable high-quality organizational growth
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage the sales pipeline process
• Documented strengths in meaningful relationship building and people management and development
• Desire to work in a fluid dynamic organization, and interest in the nonprofit space
• Ability to lead, willingness to be led, comfort with situational leadership
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned group of business developers and related staff
• Support direct reports who will be assigned personal portfolios and KPIs related to external activity contributing to sales
• Regularly attend local networking or industry events to generate new leads for self or colleagues.
• Create a culture of high service, high support, high expectations in work with partners
• Develop and implement annual business plans in coordination with manager and Chief Commercial Officer, including projected budget and revenue forecasts.
• Leverage influence skills to work effectively within team and across departments to build consensus and maintain accountability to targets.
• Ensure collaboration across departments and teams as needed, to ensure that training strategically aligns with corporate partner needs.
• Embody “servant leadership” style to empower strengths of all team members.
• Personally utilize Salesforce.com to maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities and ensure team does, as well.
• Work closely with colleagues in Revenue Operations group to leverage existing processes, analytics, and enablement tools to support outcomes in the field and ensure team does, as well.
• Ensure x-team and organizational learning related to sales trends in target industries
• Manage a portfolio of target accounts and drive external activity toward partnership sales.
• Review personal pipeline weekly to add or remove target accounts.
• Meet or exceed performance indicators: number of calls and confirmed meetings with prospects per week; placements/pilots sold; revenue from new partners; new industries unlocked; ROI of partnerships, etc.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned industries disseminating industry trends and/or sales tactical advice as needed, if applicable.
• Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
• Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings
