About The Position

The Business Modernization Office Sr Director is an enterprise execution leader accountable for building, governing, and scaling the operating model that drives AIM28 value delivery across NAPS. This role will partner closely with the VP of Business Modernization Office to lead end-to-end implementation and adoption of an AI-first governance and operating model, focused on delivering measurable impact against AOP commitments. This role will work across business, technology, modernization and change stakeholders to ensure standardized execution; integrating work across portfolios and building a sustained AI-enabled capability. The Sr Director will serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to senior leaders, translating enterprise modernization priorities into disciplined governance, portfolio visibility, value realization, and sustainable operating practices.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, strategy, finance, organizational effectiveness, technology, healthcare administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Strategic transformation operations, including the ability to translate enterprise priorities into governance models, operating mechanisms, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
  • Executive influence and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior leaders, facilitate decisions, align stakeholders, and communicate complex portfolio health, risk, and value realization topics clearly.
  • Portfolio governance and program discipline, including experience establishing stage gates, escalation paths, prioritization routines, decision rights, and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Value realization and financial acumen, including benefits tracking, investment governance, business case management, AOP alignment, and partnership with FP&A or finance stakeholders.
  • AI-enabled transformation fluency, including awareness of automation, AI-first process redesign, responsible AI governance, agentic workflows, and external market trends shaping digital modernization.
  • Operating model design and process transformation capability, with demonstrated ability to build scalable frameworks, practical playbooks, adoption routines, and sustainable ways of working.
  • Strong judgment, organizational awareness, political savvy, and courage to challenge assumptions, surface risks, and recommend trade-offs in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Commitment to McKesson’s LEADRx behaviors and I²CARE principles, with a demonstrated focus on accountability, collaboration, integrity, and measurable impact.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in business transformation, strategy and operations, enterprise PMO, portfolio governance, management consulting, technology-enabled transformation, organizational effectiveness, or related fields.
  • Minimum 6+ years of diversified leadership experience, including planning, communication, organization, stakeholder influence, and motivating teams or workgroups to deliver complex business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead highly complex, cross-functional initiatives requiring in-depth understanding of organizational objectives, strategic priorities, stakeholder dynamics, and business value drivers.
  • Experience applying strategic goals and direction to obtain results across multiple workgroups, functions, or disciplines.
  • Proven ability to establish governance models, portfolio management disciplines, executive reporting routines, value realization methodologies, and operating mechanisms that improve execution and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, facilitate executive-level decisions, communicate complex information clearly, and escalate risks and trade-offs appropriately.
  • Experience partnering across Finance, Technology, Operations, Strategy, Risk, Compliance, Change Management, or related functions to govern enterprise transformation work and drive measurable outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with portfolio management, enterprise planning, value tracking, or reporting tools such as Planview, Power BI, Smartsheet, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Healthcare, distribution, life sciences, technology, consulting, or large-scale enterprise transformation experience preferred; McKesson or comparable Fortune-scale operating environment experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own and govern the overall operating rhythm and cadence for AIM28, including governance forums, stage gates, decision pathways, escalation routines, and execution discipline.
  • Design, develop, and launch tools and operating mechanisms that enable an AI-first modernization approach across business units, finance, technology, modernization, and change functions.
  • Lead prioritization and escalation processes by assessing interdependencies, delivery performance, business value, resource constraints, and risk exposure.
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled governance, workflow, reporting, and decision-support capabilities that improve visibility, accountability, and speed of execution.
  • Create sustained accountability for business outcomes by connecting modernization work to measurable value, operational performance, and AOP commitments; owns operationalizing AIM28 Incentive Award program
  • Establish value realization methodologies, benefits tracking standards, and reporting routines in partnership with FP&A to create a trusted single source of truth.
  • Implement, socialize, and scale Planview or related portfolio management tools to improve transparency, investment governance, prioritization, and benefits tracking.
  • Shape prioritization, funding, and investment recommendations by synthesizing portfolio health, business value, readiness, risks, dependencies, and expected impact.
  • Provide senior and executive leaders with clear, consistent, and actionable views of portfolio health, progress, risks, trade-offs, and expected impact against AOP commitments.
  • Develop executive-ready narratives and decision materials that enable timely action, resource alignment, and disciplined execution across AIM28 modernization priorities.
  • Advance an AI-first modernization operating model by embedding process redesign, automation, governance, change adoption, and measurable business outcomes into standard ways of working.
  • Operationalize practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions that can be consistently adopted across functions and maintained over time.
  • Identify external market trends and emerging practices in AI-enabled transformation, digital operations, portfolio governance, and value realization; translate those insights into relevant McKesson operating practices.
  • Build organizational capability by creating repeatable frameworks, playbooks, routines, and enablement materials that help teams execute modernization work with clarity and discipline.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across business, finance, technology, modernization, and change functions to drive adoption of governance and operating model changes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by bringing structure to ambiguity, surfacing risks and trade-offs, and aligning stakeholders around strategic modernization priorities.
  • Connect AIM28 work to broader NAPS priorities and Big Bet outcomes, ensuring modernization efforts are sequenced, governed, and communicated in a way that supports enterprise execution.
  • Establish and own the future-state RAIB operating model, with a focus on consistency, scalability, automation, risk mitigation, and sustainable adoption.
  • Operationalize and drive enterprise adoption of responsible AI governance routines, standards, and decision pathways.
  • Partner with business, technology, risk, compliance, and change stakeholders to ensure AI-enabled modernization work is governed responsibly and aligned to McKesson expectations.
