Senior Director, Business Assessment — I&I Lead

Pfizer•New York, NY
•$230,900 - $384,800•Hybrid

About The Position

Business Assessment (BA) is Pfizer's independent, enterprise commercial assessment function within Global Commercial Analytics (GCA). It informs investment decisions across pipeline, business development (BD), and lifecycle management (LCM) through evidence-based forecasts and business case assessments. BA provides an independent view on whether Pfizer should invest, prioritize, or change course, using explicit ranges and scenarios rather than single-point answers. The Senior Director owns revenue forecasting and investment-case development for the I&I portfolio, leads a team of three at Director/Senior Manager level, and reports to the Business Assessment Lead. The role has direct exposure to enterprise investment decisions across pipeline, BD, and LCM. It is hybrid, with onsite work required 2 to 3 days per week, and travel based on business needs.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • At least 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry or adjacent analytical fields, such as life sciences consulting or healthcare-focused financial services.
  • Working knowledge of the drug development process, competitor and healthcare-market dynamics in the US and major ex-US markets, and their effects on BD and pipeline decisions.
  • Experience building and leading analytical teams, including developing Director- and Senior Manager-level talent.
  • End-to-end ownership of patient-based revenue forecasting, including building models, defending assumptions, and translating output into actionable business-case recommendations for executives.
  • Track record of influencing commercial and research leaders without direct authority and defending forecast conclusions under stakeholder challenge.
  • BD experience across the deal lifecycle, including opportunity identification, commercial assessment, and deal structuring, involving acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, joint ventures, and co-development.
  • Ability to deliver rigorous analysis on compressed timelines with incomplete information.
  • Demonstrated breadth of leadership experience and capabilities, including influencing and collaborating with peers, developing and coaching others, and guiding colleagues' work toward meaningful outcomes and business impact.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States by any employer; permanent U.S. work authorization is required. U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of three, set forecasting standards, and review output before it reaches SGT/PMT and asset-level decision forums.
  • Own analytically rigorous, patient-based revenue forecasts for I&I pipeline and BD candidates at every stage: AiP, FMA, POC, DP3, and post-launch LCM.
  • Calibrate analytical depth and external research to each decision's stage, timeline, and available data.
  • Maintain forecasting consistency across the I&I portfolio, including internal pipeline, BD options, and in-line assets, so results are comparable across business cases.
  • Partner with Clinical, Commercial, Finance, and Portfolio functions to pressure-test assumptions and ground forecasts in their insights.
  • Advance forecasting methods by adopting AI-enabled methods and modern analytical tooling to improve speed, depth, and reproducibility.
  • Manage concurrent deliverables and reallocate team resources ahead of peak periods.
  • Present findings and an objective commercial view to SGT/PMT and senior leadership, including when recommendations differ from stakeholder expectations.
