Senior Director, AIRx Program Management

TakedaBoston, MA
Onsite

About The Position

Takeda Research is building a 'Lab of Tomorrow' focused on AI, automation, and new working methods to deliver differentiated medicines to the clinic efficiently. To support this, Takeda is establishing two key units: AI Research Accelerator (AIRx) and Lab Automation & Transformation (LAT). AIRx will be a specialized group of experienced drug hunters, operating with the agility of a biotech company and the resources of a major pharmaceutical firm. Its purpose is to pioneer future AI-powered operating models and accelerate the delivery of drug candidates to the clinic with leading industry speed and success rates. The Program Manager for AIRx is crucial in this endeavor, serving as the operational and strategic linchpin for a novel, high-speed drug discovery model designed to achieve biotech-like speed within a large corporate structure. This role is focused on empowering scientists to make better and faster decisions. The AIRx Program Manager will architect the operational framework for a fundamentally new drug discovery process, setting the standard for program management excellence within this new operating model. The role is responsible for driving clarity, accelerating decision-making, and ensuring execution rigor across AIRx portfolios by integrating planning, governance, external partnerships, and resource management into a unified operating system. Working within a lean, empowered team, this leader will enable scientific teams to concentrate on discovery by ensuring clear priorities, early risk identification, and swift, well-informed decisions. Additionally, the role contributes to building the AIRx model by codifying best practices and developing scalable frameworks for future 'Labs of Tomorrow'.
