In this vital role you will • Define and lead Amgen’s enterprise AI solution architecture strategy, translating complex business needs into scalable AI products, platforms, and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience; or
  • Master’s degree and 6 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience.
  • 4+ years of direct managerial experience, including experience managing managers or senior technical leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • 12+ years of experience in AI/ML, data science, enterprise architecture, product management, technology strategy, or related leadership roles.
  • Proven track record designing, scaling, or leading enterprise AI products, platforms, or solutions that delivered measurable business impact and ROI.
  • Deep technical understanding of modern AI/ML methods, generative AI, applied machine learning, data platforms, APIs, cloud architecture, MLOps, and production AI systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business problems into AI solution architectures, execution plans, value cases, and adoption pathways.
  • Experience decomposing large-scale, cross-functional AI initiatives into clear workstreams, delivery milestones, architecture decisions, and operating model requirements.
  • Strong business acumen, with experience connecting AI capabilities to product outcomes, operational performance, financial impact, and enterprise strategy.
  • Advanced technical degree in computer science, engineering, data science, applied mathematics, or related field preferred; MBA or equivalent business education strongly preferred.
  • Biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated industry experience preferred, with familiarity in responsible AI, privacy, security, regulatory, and model-risk considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Co-create high-impact AI solutions with cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, Operations, Commercial, and corporate functions.
  • Partner with senior business, product, technology, data, and AI leaders to scope large-scale AI initiatives and decompose ambiguous opportunities into executable solution pathways.
  • Develop solution blueprints that connect business objectives, user needs, AI/ML methods, data assets, platform capabilities, integration needs, governance, and measurable ROI.
  • Assess technical feasibility, value potential, implementation complexity, data readiness, operating model requirements, and adoption pathways for proposed AI initiatives.
  • Partner with AI engineering, data engineering, platform, architecture, product, security, privacy, legal, compliance, and domain teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, governed, and production-ready.
  • Establish reusable standards and frameworks for AI solution intake, prioritization, solution decomposition, value assessment, architecture review, and delivery readiness.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing AI solution architecture function with strong technical, product, business, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
