Datavant
$227,000 - $280,000

About The Position

Datavant is seeking a Senior Director of AI Enablement to lead the adoption, integration, scaling, and governance of AI within both their products and internal teams. This role involves working with Product and Engineering to integrate AI capabilities into product development and simultaneously driving internal workforce adoption. The ideal candidate will excel at the intersection of product strategy, organizational change, and AI, capable of engaging with both C-suite executives on roadmap discussions and internal teams on training. Key responsibilities include building and executing a company-wide AI adoption strategy, designing role-based enablement programs, establishing an internal AI Champions network, and creating communication strategies to foster a culture of AI experimentation and learning. The role also involves developing and tracking AI adoption metrics and program ROI. Additionally, the Senior Director will define AI usage policies, acceptable use guidelines, and governance frameworks, partnering with Legal, Security, and Compliance to ensure data privacy and risk management. They will advocate for ethical AI practices and stay informed about evolving AI regulations. This leadership position requires building and managing a team of AI enablement professionals, influencing senior stakeholders, and representing AI Enablement at the executive level. Collaboration with Finance for AI spend management and with People/HR and L&D for integrating AI fluency into HR processes is also expected.

Requirements

  • 10-12+ years in SaaS, technology, or enterprise software, with significant experience in product management, digital transformation, or technology enablement.
  • 3–5 years directly leading AI adoption and automation, AI product strategy, or large-scale change management programs in a SaaS environment.
  • Hands-on experience with AI platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic
  • Strong working knowledge of the modern AI/GenAI landscape — LLMs, copilots, AI-native SaaS tools, MCPs/APIs — with the ability to engage credibly with both engineering and business audiences.
  • Proven expertise in change management methodologies and the ability to drive adoption across a diverse, distributed workforce.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence; a natural storyteller who can make AI accessible and compelling to any audience.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of ideal use cases for various AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Vertex, Microsoft Copilot, or similar.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers on technology adoption or digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a company-wide AI adoption strategy that drives meaningful, measurable behavior change across product, engineering, and G&A functions.
  • Design role-based enablement programs — from AI fundamentals for non-technical teams to advanced workflows for engineers and product managers.
  • Stand up and scale an internal AI Champions network embedded across departments to sustain momentum and surface adoption blockers.
  • Create communication strategies that demystify AI, build trust, and foster a culture of experimentation and continuous learning.
  • Develop and track adoption metrics, workforce readiness scores, and program ROI (AI-Value Metrics) to report progress to executive leadership.
  • Define internal AI usage policies, acceptable use guidelines, and governance frameworks that balance innovation with risk management.
  • Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance to assess AI tools and use cases — ensuring data privacy and vendor risk standards are met.
  • Advocate for ethical, transparent, and inclusive AI practices both internally and in customer-facing product decisions.
  • Stay ahead of evolving AI regulation (EU AI Act, US executive guidance, etc.) and translate implications into policy and practice.
  • Build and lead a team of AI enablement professionals — including program managers, instructional designers, and AI solution specialists.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across a fast-moving, matrixed SaaS organization without always having direct authority.
  • Represent AI Enablement at the executive level, contributing to company-wide AI strategy conversations and board updates.
  • Partner with Finance to both track and forecast AI Spend and tracking that spend to AI-Value.
  • Partner with People/HR and L&D to integrate AI fluency into hiring profiles, onboarding, and performance frameworks.
