About The Position

The Senior Director, Accounting will coordinate with Business Development, Licensing, and Legal teams to understand and implement processes for contractual obligations. This role involves maintaining detailed records of contracts, teams, and procedures, and developing in-depth knowledge of systems, data, and reporting tools. The position requires understanding business processes related to general ledger accounts and transaction flow, implementing accounting policies for licensing and royalty deals, and ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP. Key responsibilities include contributing to month-end and year-end close processes, preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. The role is responsible for identifying and ensuring the operating effectiveness of internal controls across revenue, royalties, and revenue share processes. Additionally, the Senior Director will review monthly and quarterly revenue share and royalty settlements, develop and improve management reporting processes, and participate in financial statement audits and audits by partners and licensors. The position also involves assisting with the development and implementation of licensing software and other technical solutions, preparing ad hoc financial reporting, and maintaining positive working relationships with external partners. Up to 10% domestic travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or U.S. equivalent in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7 years of professional experience as a Senior Accountant, Financial Auditor, or any occupation, job title, or position performing risk assessment, financial analysis, or audit engagements.
  • 7 years of professional experience performing financial close processes, including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • 7 years of professional experience designing workflows and team procedures to ensure operational accuracy and audit readiness.
  • 7 years of professional experience operating financial systems and reporting tools to manage general ledger accounts and analyze transaction flow for accuracy and compliance.
  • 7 years of professional experience developing and improving management reporting processes to communicate financial performance and operational metrics across departments.
  • 6 years of professional experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Licensing and Legal to implement compliance processes and support contractual obligations.
  • 6 years of professional experience analyzing licensing and royalty agreements to implement accounting policies and ensure accurate revenue recognition and royalty settlements.
  • 6 years of professional experience conducting monthly and quarterly revenue share calculations and royalty settlements for submission to external partners.
  • 2 years of professional experience assisting in the design, development, and implementation of licensing software or financial systems to streamline reporting and compliance functions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Business Development, Licensing, and Legal teams to understand obligations under agreements and implement necessary processes.
  • Ensure detailed records of contracts, teams, and procedures are maintained.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of systems, data, and reporting tools, and understand business processes related to assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Implement accounting policies to support licensing and royalty deals.
  • Ensure various transactions are recorded appropriately in accordance with GAAP as a key contributor to the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Identify and ensure the operating effectiveness of all internal controls across the Commerce end-to-end revenue, royalties, and rev share processes.
  • Review monthly and quarterly revenue share and royalty settlements for timely submission to partners.
  • Share information needed to effectively manage the business.
  • Develop/improve clear, concise, and timely management reporting processes to various departments.
  • Participate as a key team member in quarterly, year-end financial statements, financial audits, and audits by partners and licensors.
  • Assist with development and implementation of licensing software as well as other technical solutions to improve processes.
  • Assist the accounting department and other developments as necessary, including preparation of ad hoc financial reporting requests, other analyses and special projects requested by management.
  • Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to maintain positive working relationships with all external partners and provide timely responses to inquiries.
