About The Position

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Senior Direct Support Professional for Gallagher Services. The role provides quality living support—including physical, social, behavioral, career, and personal support—to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who live and work in the community. Gallagher Services supports people in living, working, and participating in community life as independently as possible, guided by person-centered planning and the mission and values of Catholic Charities.

The DSP supports a group of people with activities they enjoy, such as watching movies, bowling, and visiting family. The role involves building connections, being present, and helping people pursue their goals and live meaningful, independent lives. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license, at least two years of driving experience, and no more than three points on driving record.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of a Medication Technician Training Program, or willingness to complete it.
• Kindness, dependability, good communication, and enjoyment of spending time with the people supported.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality physical, social, behavioral, career, and personal support to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
• Assist with cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
• Support community engagement, including walks in the park and attendance at local events.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build confidence and self-esteem.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
• Drive agency vehicles and assist people who use wheelchairs.
