About The Position

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Sr. Direct Support Professional to provide quality living support (physical, social, behavioral, career, and personal) to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) living and working in the community. Gallagher Services supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living the life of their choice, enabling them to live, work, and be involved in the community as independently as possible. The program is built on Person-Centered Planning and the mission and values of Catholic Charities. The role involves supporting care to individuals who enjoy activities such as watching movies, going bowling, and visiting family. The ideal candidate is kind, dependable, a good communicator, and enjoys spending time with the individuals served.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

Supports individuals in living, working, and being involved in the community as independently as possible.
Supports care to individuals who enjoy activities such as watching movies, going bowling, and visiting family.
Helps with cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
Supports community engagement, including walks in the park or attending local events.
Advocates for each person’s rights and helps build their confidence and sense of self.
Keeps clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
