About The Position

The Senior Dimensional Engineer independently performs GD&T, variation analysis, measurement planning, and manufacturing capability work to ensure product and assembly fit, finish, function, and launch readiness. The position owns assigned dimensional deliverables from RFQ through design release, fixture development, SCCAF (CTF), PPAP, launch, and continuous improvement, while coordinating task teams or global resources as needed.

Requirements

  • BSME or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T, applicable customer/ISO standards, SPC and capability, RSS and worst-case analysis, variation simulation, measurement planning, fixture/gauge development, GR/GR&R, CAD investigation, root-cause analysis, PPAP, and launch.
  • Familiarity with various OEM processes and standards is required.
  • 10+ years of Dimensional Engineering experience completing complex GD&T, tolerance analysis, measurement planning, fixture, issue-resolution, and launch assignments.
  • Must manage multiple priorities, communicate technical risk, work across functions, improve standards, and direct small teams or supporting resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SCCAF, release controls, workload tools, and AI-assisted analysis is preferred.
  • Manufacturing, injection-molded exterior product, SCCAF, and gage evaluation experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned dimensional engineering work from RFQ through launch and production support, including scope, timing, deliverables, and risk.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, plants, customers, and global resources to obtain inputs and complete deliverables.
  • Create, review, and approve component and assembly GD&T drawings to ASME Y14.5, ISO, and customer standards.
  • Verify CAD/BOM revisions, variants, geometry, drawings, customer requirements, locating information, reviewers, and program dates.
  • Use CAD and dimensional analysis tools to establish datum strategies supporting gap/flush, build objectives, functional interfaces, manufacturing, checking, and service.
  • Lead technical reviews and work with the customer to establish an agreed program dimensional strategy, aligning measurement intent, locating strategy, fixture feasibility, tolerances, GD&T, and SCCAF data before release.
  • Perform and review 1D/3D tolerance analyses using RSS, worst-case, Monte Carlo, surrogate, and measured capability data; communicate risks and recommendations.
  • Maintain measurement plans, point definitions, coordinate systems, classifications, build objectives, SCCAF data, and electronic measurement requirements.
  • Support gage and fixture strategy, development, build, design reviews, inspection feasibility, certification, GR/GR&R, approval, buyoff, and release traceability.
  • Manage workload, planning, and documentation using Magna standardized processes, templates, planning tools, dashboards, scorecards, and trackers; monitor hours, milestones, budget, inputs, changes, and escalations.
  • Direct small dimensional teams or global resources; support builds, PPAP, launch, and root-cause resolution using scan, SPC, measurement, and capability data.
  • Support and drive global drawing standards across Exteriors; use production capability data to recommend tolerances and maintain work instructions, templates, checklists, lessons learned, and change controls.
  • Apply validated automation and AI tools for extraction, ballooning, SCCAF population, drawing verification, tolerance screening, capability analysis, and reporting; demonstrate mentoring capability by coaching others as a technical resource.
