About The Position

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) is seeking a Senior Digital Electrical Engineer for their Clarksburg, MD office. This role supports manufacturing activities for communications and helmet-mounted display markets. The engineer will analyze product failure data, troubleshoot yield issues, recommend product improvements, and perform root cause analysis on field failures. They will also support the qualification of components and act as a liaison between manufacturing technicians and engineers. The position requires minimal supervision and effective communication with management.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • BSEE/MSEE or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing / production environment providing engineering support.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of electronics, read schematics, interpret assembly drawings, and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, etc.
  • Experience utilizing software tool Lab View and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of time.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and a strong, dependable work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Work across multiple disciplines supporting manufacturing activities related to our communications and helmet mounted display market.
  • Analyze product failure data and malfunction testing trends, troubleshoot yield issues, and recommend product improvements, including test improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis on field failures and support continuous product improvements.
  • Effectively troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and team building activities. Maintains productive working relationships with all team members.
  • Complete assigned tasks with a high level of quality in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively support and communicate to management status, issues, needs and ideas.
  • Support qualification of obsolete, not recommended for new design, and last time buy components.
  • Act as liaison between manufacturing diagnostic technicians and engineers on existing products and during transfer of new products into manufacturing.
  • Maintain lab, equipment, and work areas.
