Senior DevSecOps Security Engineer, Cisco Intersight

Cisco•Milpitas, CA
•$186,900 - $267,700

About The Position

The Cisco Intersight platform is a cloud-native operations platform that offers unified management, automation, visibility, and lifecycle operations for infrastructure across data center, cloud, and edge environments. As AI-driven intelligence is integrated into the platform, the SaaS, on-premises, and mobile offerings rely on secure, reliable, and high-performance software engineering for building, testing, releasing, and operating complex systems at scale. This role involves a dual-lens approach, providing senior security guidance and hands-on software development. The engineer will partner with various teams including Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, SRE, and Cisco’s Security and Trust Organization (STO) to build secure, resilient, and scalable platform features, including AI-powered capabilities, while adhering to rigorous compliance standards. This position acts as a primary technical bridge between software development and security, involving writing production-grade code, assessing the security impact of feature designs (including AI services), and building automation to enhance security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree and 8 years of experience designing and maintaining production quality backend systems.
  • 5 years using Go or Java within a Microservices architecture.
  • 3 years focused on DevSecOps or application security.
  • Experience using Python for security automation and tooling.
  • Experience with secure development lifecycle (SDLC) requirements and translating security findings into practical code-based remediation plans.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability triage, automated security scan findings, and SLA-based remediation workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing or securing AI/ML workloads, including familiarity with common AI security frameworks (e.g., OWASP Top 10 for LLMs) and MLOps security.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native platforms, including AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, and how to secure them via Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Proven ability to balance deep-dive technical software development tasks with broad-scope security policy and compliance mandates.
  • Experience with Cisco security mandates, policies, or product security processes.
  • Familiarity with compliance audits such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 or GDPR/privacy regulations.
  • Security or cloud certifications such as CISSP, CCSP or cloud-provider-specific developer certifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate technical discussions regarding security trade-offs in software design.

Responsibilities

  • Use Go or Java to implement platform security features and core infrastructure.
  • Partner with engineering teams to design secure patterns for AI/ML model deployment, data protection, and inference security within the Intersight ecosystem.
  • Automate security tooling, vulnerability remediation, and continuous compliance checks using Python.
  • Interpret Cisco-level mandates and security procedures into actionable code, control expectations, and automated remediation workflows.
  • Review new feature designs, AI architectures and infrastructure changes, identifying security gaps early and recommending mitigations that balance usability, performance, and security.
  • Guide remediation priorities across automated scans, penetration tests, and security reviews, ensuring issues are triaged, assigned, and tracked to closure.
