This role is for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a development-focused project. The position involves the operation and optimization of a Java-based ERP system for external customers. The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for cloud infrastructure management, ensuring system reliability, and collaborating closely with development teams to maintain high availability and performance of critical systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in IT operations of complex software systems
- Practical working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including core cloud services
- Strong Linux administration skills and hands-on experience with shell scripting
- Good understanding of security best practices and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
- Solid understanding of backup strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts
- Experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting production incidents
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform and/or Ansible
- Operational understanding of Java applications, including JVM tuning and log analysis
- Basic operational exposure to Java-based ERP systems
Nice To Haves
- Basic to intermediate experience in administering Oracle Database or PostgreSQL
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and VPN technologies
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker
- Hands-on familiarity with monitoring tools, for example Prometheus, Grafana, or Google Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver)
Responsibilities
- Technical operation and support of a Java-based ERP system for external customers
- Administration and orchestration of infrastructure using Kubernetes and container technologies
- Management, optimization, and monitoring of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment
- Configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN connections (Site-to-Site and Client-to-Site)
- Database administration, with priority for Oracle and alternatively PostgreSQL
- Implementation and supervision of monitoring and alerting systems
- Ownership of backup strategies and execution of disaster recovery tests
- Ensuring system availability and performance optimization, including Linux and JVM tuning
- Performing root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting production incidents
