About The Position

At SAP Sovereign Cloud Technology & Delivery, the Senior DevOps Engineer will join the Product Enablement team and help deploy and operate SAP cloud solutions on sovereign cloud infrastructure for public sector and highly regulated industries. The role focuses on automating, scaling, and maintaining cloud operations, orchestrating containerized applications with Kubernetes, and supporting regional Sovereign Cloud teams. The engineer will work with technical product managers, engineers, security professionals, SAP product teams, and operations teams to address challenges involving scale and security. The position includes building and managing deployment environments for new SAP products, implementing infrastructure as code, and developing automated deployment scripts and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will guide deployments, provide technical troubleshooting and support to regional teams, demonstrate deployment techniques, and help teams learn cloud-service management practices. The role also includes mentoring junior team members, sharing DevOps expertise, and keeping current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Due to the potentially classified nature of the work, willingness to undergo a governmental security clearance process is required.

Requirements

At least 6 years of professional software development or cloud services experience.
At least 5 years of DevOps experience.
Experience with Terraform.
Demonstrated experience with Ansible, AWS, Azure, GCP, or SAP Cloud Infrastructure (SCI).
Experience with technologies for deploying and managing cloud-native applications, including container orchestration tools such as Gardener, Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm charts.
Experience setting up, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Python, Go, PowerShell, and/or Bash.
Familiarity with GitLab and/or GitHub.
Knowledge of security best practices, including hardened containers and images (STIG).

Responsibilities

Build and manage deployment environments for new SAP products in the SAP Sovereign Cloud portfolio.
Implement infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.
Develop and maintain automated deployment scripts and pipelines using CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD, Concourse, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Guide deployments in SAP Sovereign Cloud, focusing on resilient cloud solutions.
Provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting to Sovereign Cloud regional teams, including demonstrations and upskilling on deploying and managing cloud services.
Mentor junior team members.
Share knowledge and expertise in DevOps practices, tools, and SAP product deployments.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in DevOps and SAP product deployments.
Orchestrate containerized applications using Kubernetes and support regional Sovereign Cloud teams.
