About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. Requirements

  • BS/Advanced Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in modern C/C++ and experience integrating C/C++ with Simulink.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or MATLAB scripting) for automating build systems and testing pipelines.
  • Ability to use, understand and leverage modern LLMs and AI based coding tools.
  • Experience with Linux operating system environment

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience developing or verifying GNC/Vehicle Simulation systems in simulation or on hardware is a major plus!
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink, specifically including auto-code generation tools (Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder).
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like Linux Preempt RT, VxWorks, or QNX.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems (e.g., Speedgoat, dSPACE).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422) and middleware (DDS, ROS2).
  • Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) certification standards like DO-331 or safety-critical software development (DO-178C).
  • Experience packaging and containerizing simulation environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows and automated testing pipelines for the GNC, Vehicle Simulation, Vehicle Management and Integrated Test/Labs groups using tools like GitHub Actions and TeamCity.
  • Support developing and maintaining automated toolchains to generate, compile, and deploy Simulink and MATLAB code across multiple targets, including desktop simulation environments, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) lab hardware, and flight computers for both subscale and full-scale vehicles.
  • Architect new, and manage existing, High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure to support large-scale Monte Carlo simulations, batch regression testing, and parallelized simulations and testing.
  • Manage the critical software interfaces between the "Virtual Vehicle" (Simulink models) and downstream platforms, including managing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), data dictionaries, and signal mapping to embedded middleware.
  • Serve as the primary technical bridge between the Flight Dynamics & Control (FD&C) team and the Platform embedded software team, ensuring that complex algorithms translate predictably to real-time execution.
