About The Position

At Fearless, we are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer as part of our Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services career path to support the modernization of a large-scale public-facing government website. In this role, you will support the cloud infrastructure, containerized deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and operational capabilities required to run a Drupal platform within an AWS environment. You will work closely with Drupal engineers, QA, technical leadership, and government cloud stakeholders to create reliable and repeatable infrastructure and deployment processes while supporting production readiness, troubleshooting, and stabilization. This is a fully remote role. At Fearless, this Senior Consultant collaborates with cross functional teams to align the technical vision, implementation, and quality of software systems across development, reliability, testing, and operations. This role will possess the skills to be able to bridge business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing at an advanced application level of proficiency. The Sr. Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while mentoring engineers, fostering collaboration, and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of total relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • At least 3 years supporting enterprise-wide website modernization or digital transformation initiatives, with that work occurring within the past 5 years.
  • Participation in at least one government, higher education, or similarly regulated organization project.
  • Experience implementing at least one Drupal solution hosted on AWS.
  • Strong experience designing, configuring, and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure for web applications.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining containerized application deployments using Docker.
  • Strong background developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Proficiency with Git or comparable source-control tools.
  • Experience implementing cloud monitoring and alerting and troubleshooting production infrastructure and deployment issues.
  • Strong understanding of Linux-based web application infrastructure, including cloud database and storage services.
  • Demonstrated experience with deployment, release, rollback, and production-readiness processes.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Terraform and AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, EFS, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Background supporting Drupal infrastructure, hosting, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience configuring or supporting Apache and Nginx.
  • Familiarity with GitHub.
  • AWS certification or equivalent demonstrated AWS expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and support the AWS infrastructure required to operate the Drupal platform within the customer-provided cloud environment.
  • Build and maintain containerized Drupal deployment processes and Infrastructure as Code to enable consistent, repeatable environment configuration.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, test, deployment, rollback, and release processes.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting across application infrastructure, deployments, storage, and databases to support platform reliability and operational visibility.
  • Configure and support the AWS storage and database services required by the Drupal platform.
  • Establish and maintain source-control, branching, and release-management practices.
  • Collaborate with the customer Cloud Team on infrastructure setup, deployment activities, technical reviews, and required approvals.
  • Lead DevOps support for environment configuration, production deployment, troubleshooting, and post-release stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure, deployment, release, and operational documentation to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
