About The Position

Requirements

• 6+ years in infrastructure, platform, or systems engineering
• Experience owning production cloud architecture on AWS
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and containerized orchestration
• Experience scaling a production system through at least one order of magnitude
• Experience instrumenting systems with metrics, logs, traces, and alerting
• A track record of justifying infrastructure investment to engineering and business stakeholders, and driving adoption of resulting practices

Nice To Haves

• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, FDA)
• Experience with high-volume telemetry or IoT ingestion on the cloud side
• Significant open source contributions, experience with systems that outlived tenure, or a high-bar engineering background

Responsibilities

• Own cloud architecture, including AWS environment design, network and account topology, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Manage CI/CD for the entire engineering organization, ensuring fast and reversible deployments from merge to production.
• Implement and manage observability across services, telemetry ingest, and data pipelines, including metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
• Ensure security of the infrastructure substrate, covering IAM, secrets management, encryption, network boundaries, and audit logging, with HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance built into the infrastructure.
• Scale telemetry ingest to handle continuous streams from tens of thousands of devices in networks outside of direct control.
• Manage and optimize costs for compute, Snowflake, and data transfer, making informed tradeoffs based on visibility.
