About The Position

The Senior Development Manager is a critical component of a small but growing global team within the Global Industry Hub. This cross-functional role will support both the management of an existing portfolio of high value funders while also owning a small global acquisition pipeline of new funder opportunities. It will support various acquisition, conversion, stewardship, event and reporting activities commensurate with a global high value philanthropic funder strategy. This position reports to the Global Industry Hub Chief Development Officer, collaborating with both Global Industry Hub staff, ClimateWorks, and other colleagues in the wider climate network to help increase and expand grantmaking revenue to the Global Industry Hub and indirectly to the field it serves. The Senior Development Manager will be resourceful and demonstrate initiative to help advance the Global Industry Hub’s goals. About the Global Industry Hub Based at ClimateWorks, the Global Industry Hub (Hub) accelerates the decarbonization of heavy industry by mobilizing philanthropic and catalytic capital toward high-impact opportunities in steel, cement, and chemicals. The Hub operates as a neutral, creative, and catalytic systems platform, connecting funders, governments, industry, CSOs, innovators, and development institutions. It turns complex, capital-intensive transitions into investable, competitive, and climate-aligned industrial paths. Its work bridges policy innovation, economic design, financial alignment, and institutional strengthening, enabling the early projects and long-term reforms needed to rebuild global industrial systems for a net-zero economy. By combining systems thinking, technical insights, and convening power, the Global Industry Hub helps partners achieve far greater leverage and shift industrial ecosystems toward resilient, inclusive, and sustainable futures.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a fast-paced development/fundraising role.
  • Explicit experience managing a portfolio of high value individual and institutional funders.
  • Demonstrated success in proposal/grant-writing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work well with funders, intermediaries, executive team, and colleagues at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong critical thinking, research, analytic, and organizational skills. Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, as well as an understanding of donor confidentiality issues.
  • Detailed-oriented, ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally required.
  • Proven experience applying sound development process, including use of fundraising databases.
  • Willingness to take initiative, help problem-solve and work cross-functionally with colleagues and across stakeholders to support short-term and long-term Development and organizational goals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development strategy, process and project management on behalf of the Global Industry Hub in partnership with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and program colleagues, to help align with and steward existing funders and to support the acquisition of future prospects.
  • Managing funder stewardship activities such as preparing proposals, funder reports, field visits and funder events for existing supporters.
  • Managing prospect acquisition activities such as maintaining prospect lists and supporting other prospect strategies for cultivation and solicitation, prospect research, moves management plans, and development of marketing materials and program portfolio offerings.
  • Maintaining strong familiarity with Global Industry Hub program content, goals and objectives, and areas for funder alignment in the broader development ecosystem.
  • Lead coordination with the Program and Finance teams within ClimateWorks to track progress against grant activities/outcomes, review grant awards, and report on grant expenses for core support funders and for select priority programs
  • Lead coordination for Development and Finance regarding budget reporting and other related activities.
  • Prepare contact reports of relevant funder/prospect conversations, meetings and events.
  • Develop and prepare reports for the funding pipeline of select priority programs.
