About The Position

This role is on the Developer Acceleration team, which aims to give developers measurable leverage to ship faster. The team provides tools and foundations that developers use without necessarily noticing them. The "customers" are approximately 300 developers across Jane. The mission is to help the people who help the helpers by enabling AI-augmentation for product development. This role is crucial for building a paved path for AI-augmentation in product development, impacting the entire engineering organization.

Requirements

Deep, hands-on experience designing systems that other developers depend on, with the judgment to know when tooling is helpful versus obstructive.
Hands-on, daily experience building with agentic AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) across the software development lifecycle.
Demonstrated ability to delegate real work to agents, including writing specs, running multi-file changes, and critically reviewing output.
A track record of building production-grade systems, often from the ground up.
Real understanding of working across large, long-lived codebases with multiple teams and significant history.
Understanding of how to provide LLMs with the right context to be useful within large codebases.
Genuine curiosity about developer experience and productivity.
Understanding that building a tool is only half the job; the other half is ensuring adoption through documentation, teaching, and direct support.
Bias to action and an open, collaborative style.
Comfort with TypeScript.
Experience with Ruby on Rails is helpful for the Jane monolith but not required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with evals, prompt and context engineering, or guardrails for autonomous agents.
Background in observability and quality, including pre-LLM methods and observing systems with non-deterministic behavior.
Experience with Ruby on Rails.

Responsibilities

Build tools and shared infrastructure to increase developer speed across Jane.
Develop systems for agentic context, monolith reliance, plugins, skills, safe agent environments, and measurement of impact.
Build with a platform mindset, creating components that plug into a larger system (e.g., running agents in the cloud, distributing skills, managing context).
Understand when a quick one-off solution is appropriate versus a durable, integrated system.
Apply a systems perspective to developer workflows, embedding with product teams to diagnose friction points (CI noise, PR size, review latency, churn).
Translate observations into tooling that removes friction and has broad application.
Drive the adoption of agent-authored code, increasing the share of agent-opened, landed, and merged PRs.
Set the standard for building with AI within the organization.
Communicate proactively in team channels to share context, surface risks, and maintain alignment in a distributed environment.
