Senior Developer Advocate
About The Position
Elastic is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate to champion the Elastic community and support its global user base. The role involves staying current on search and AI, understanding and advocating for Elastic Stack use cases, and maintaining a strong presence in the developer community. The position is based in New York City, New York, within a highly distributed company. The Senior Developer Advocate connects with community members in person and online, creates and shares technical content, contributes code, and relays community feedback to Elastic’s engineering teams. Compensation is base salary, with no variable compensation component. The role is eligible for Elastic’s stock program and includes a company-matched 401(k), along with other benefits focused on employee well-being.
Requirements
- Deep technical background and experience in an engineering role, such as software engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling technology content, including speaking, writing, and demonstrating.
- Empathy for the community and ability to help users solve issues, provide internal feedback, and fix problems where possible.
- Comfort working with a highly distributed team.
- Experience contributing as an individual in self-organizing teams.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
- Speak at in-person and virtual conferences, meetups, and other events.
- Answer developer questions on Discuss, Slack, and other forums.
- Create and share content such as social media posts, blog posts, example code, demos, tutorials, and videos on elastic.co or Elastic’s YouTube channel.
- Contribute code to Elastic and external repositories on GitHub.
- Provide feedback from the developer community to engineering teams to help improve Elastic products.
- Stay up to date on search and AI, understand and advocate for Elastic Stack use cases, and engage with the developer community.
