Senior Project Designer

STV•Empire State Building, NY

About The Position

STV is seeking a Senior Designer to serve as Project Designer on Buildings projects across its offices. The Project Designer leads the development and coordination of architectural documents from design through construction administration, working under the direction of the Design Manager and in partnership with the Project Manager and Senior Architect of record. The role is responsible for the architectural team’s day-to-day technical work, consultant coordination, agency approvals, and document quality. The position reports to the Studio Development Leader (SDL) and is assigned to projects. It is distinct from the Design Manager’s project-management leadership and client interface, the Project Manager’s commercial responsibility, and the Senior Architect of record’s professional seal and signature. Projects span STV market sectors including justice, education, health and well-being, transportation, science and technology, federal programs, and civic and cities work. Project scales and types range from new construction to renovation, accessibility upgrades, and historic and landmark work. The Senior Designer develops design concepts and interior and exterior design, selects materials and finishes, leads design development and construction-document production, coordinates consultant and engineering work, supports agency approvals, and reviews documentation for quality. The role also supports construction administration, pursuits, and the mentorship of designers on assigned projects.
