About The Position

As a Senior Designer, you’ll be part of our Global Tools & Storage team working as a hybrid employee. You’ll get to execute product design of power tools as part of a product development team. You will develop and refine concepts, prototype and/or specifications to solve given challenges. You will create parts of moderate complexity using a 3D CAD system, and design entire mechanical assemblies for a product. You will create drawings using CAD system, Catia is preferred. You will have a basic understanding of GD&T and how to apply it to 2D drawings. You will create sub-assemblies and unit layouts using CAD and create BOM structures using a PLM system. You will understand and be able to apply simple calculations (Stackup analysis, Spring Design, Press fits…). You will effectively maintain appropriate documentation for work performed. You will capture and analyze data (current, voltage, speed, etc). You will communicate clearly to team members technical concepts and ideas. You will gather and analyze data to identify and solve complex problems that arise with little or no precedent. You will work effectively with the engineering team to achieve effective design solutions.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Engineering technology or applied science or CADD degree from trade school
  • 3+ years of 3D/2D CAD software experience. Ability to generate 3D models, including design layouts of multiple parts assembly system
  • Working knowledge of 2D drawings, GD&T and tolerance stackups
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to generate/evaluate creative ideas
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills, Hands on abilities
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of core manufacturing processes - injection molding, die casting, machining, gearing, sheet metal, forgings, powdered metal, stampings, etc.
  • Basic understanding of statics, dynamics, material selection and properties
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Self motivated, results & goal oriented
