About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Color Designer to work with Color Design leadership to plan and execute color designs, and strategize the use of palettes across a range of products. Working collaboratively with Design, Product Marketing, Merchandising, and Development, you will create focused solutions for success. You will strategize around product positioning and strive to create meaningful product. A broad understanding of consumer needs, competitor products, consumer retail habits, color, and market trends is important, as you apply these insights into color solutions. We are looking for a hardworking Senior Color Designer with a deep passion for and connection to sport; someone that can comfortably navigate ambiguity and define new spaces of a growing business. Someone who is flexible and can adapt to changing priorities. You will bring strong color and apparel industry insights and have experience building stories that connect with the consumer and culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in design or a related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in color or apparel design
  • Passion for trend and color research, with the ability to gather cultural and market insights and interpret consumer behavior with a discerning eye
  • Understanding of color trends, color mixing, and color compatibility
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of color technology and how to achieve desired color effects: materials, dyes, washes, finishes and color achievability
  • Strong knowledge of apparel design and development process
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research in order to drive innovative design solutions
  • Ability to create industry-leading color mood boards that integrate consumer insights through strong storytelling and emotional resonance
  • Strong verbal, written, visual, and high-profile communication skills in local market language, including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management
  • Ability to work independently and harmoniously in a diverse group
  • Ability to network, influence, and utilize internal and external resources as well as to articulate how color can affect product and sales
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator & Photoshop) on a Mac Platform
  • Willingness to travel locally and globally

Responsibilities

  • Design and apply the color strategy for multiple collections.
  • Develop color palettes to link into seasonal narratives.
  • Build strong presentation tools.
  • Color line art to detail the creation of each product.
  • Research and deliver color, design, and directional work that influence and impact the product aesthetic, application, and target audience.
  • Use sophisticated design skills to build original, innovative color solutions for the Women’s Sportswear product range.
  • Design color strategy for collections that deliver against multiple needs: such as the Nike creative vision, the consumer, the product, the material and the business needs.
  • Present ideas in ways that illustrate how all the different needs of the brief have been considered.
  • Be an active and proficient participant in the creative and development process, partnering closely with members of the Design, Product Marketing, Merchandising, and Development.
  • Provides color design support for design team as needed outside of assigned product load.
