The Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for a Senior Design Technologist in the (DTO) Project Management team located in Lafayette, IN. In this role you will develop collaborative relationships with engineering teams, customers, dealers, suppliers, and other functional groups to ensure project goals are achieved. The DTO Project Manager is responsible for managing all activities necessary to meet the customer's expectations for quality, cost, and delivery of a DTO Project. DTO Custom Packages are used on C9-C280 Engine Platforms. These Projects serve the Oil & Gas, Marine and Electric Power Markets. This person will work with Marketing and Dealers to quote and secure custom package orders.

Requirements

  • Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Project Management: Basic knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Products and Services: Working knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical Degree – Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Customer Service / Dealer Service – Experience with Caterpillar customers and dealers
  • NPI background
  • Specific knowledge of Lafayette products, C175, 3500, 3600

Responsibilities

  • Project Manage DTO orders to meet delivery, quality and cost objectives
  • Communicate to global customers, dealers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Facilitate Customer Witness testing of custom projects.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to schedule DTO Projects and special testing.
