About The Position

The Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, Architecture and Engineering Unit seeks to hire a Senior Design Reviewer. Reporting to and under the supervision of the Executive Director and Deputy Directors of Architecture, the selected candidate shall participate in project scope development, existing conditions and forensic analysis, the review of design and construction documents prepared by consultants, as well as creation of design documents and construction administration for in-house design projects. The selected candidate must be thoroughly knowledgeable in Architecture principles and practices including, city and state guidelines and requirements, as well as general design principles, industry best practices, building codes, project delivery methodologies, and the latest technologies and innovations in the field. The selected candidate will interface with clients, consultants, contractors, project managers, and other staff.

  • Thorough knowledge of Architecture principles and practices
  • Knowledge of city and state guidelines and requirements
  • Knowledge of general design principles
  • Knowledge of industry best practices
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Knowledge of project delivery methodologies
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies and innovations in the field
  • Baccalaureate degree in architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of full-time experience in planning, design, research, investigations and/or studies related to urban design development programs
  • Satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with a baccalaureate degree in architecture required
  • Graduate work leading to an advanced degree in architecture, urban design or city planning may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.)
  • Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project scope development

  • Review design and construction documents prepared by consultants
  • Create design documents for in-house design projects
  • Perform construction administration for in-house design projects
  • Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, project managers, and other technical staff
