About The Position

The Senior Design for Service and Repair Engineer shapes how Microsoft designs devices to be serviceable, sustainable, and supportable throughout their product lifecycles. The role collaborates across the business to define repair strategies for high-volume Surface and Xbox products, from early development through launch, connecting customer needs, business outcomes, and evolving right to repair legislation. The engineer drives New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts that influence product experience, manufacturability, and repairability. This includes developing and scaling process technologies, field repair solutions, and equipment. The role partners with legal, operations, and engineering teams to ensure product designs meet global sustainability and repair legislation while enabling efficient service operations and customer experiences. It applies mechanical engineering, risk management, and high-volume manufacturing expertise to reduce costs, manage launch and yield risks, and deliver robust field repair solutions. Close collaboration with launch and factory teams supports successful device and service ramps and launches.

Requirements
