About The Position

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and manage detailed engineering execution plans for engineered-to-order end closure projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, contract requirements, and manufacturing capabilities. Define and control design inputs and outputs in accordance with ASME Section VIII (Div. 1 and/or Div. 2), client specifications, and internal engineering standards during bid and project execution phases. Lead the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering design packages, including calculations, drawings, material specifications, welding requirements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and manufacturing documentation. Perform and approve detailed mechanical design calculations for pressure-retaining components, including heads, flanges, bolted elements, sealing systems, nozzle reinforcements, and structural attachments. Ensure designs comply with pressure vessel codes, and customer-specific technical requirements, maintaining full traceability and code compliance documentation. Identify critical-to-quality and safety-related design characteristics that directly impact pressure containment integrity, fatigue life, sealing performance, and safe operation in field conditions. Evaluate technical and commercial risks associated with project specifications, non-standard requirements, material selections, and delivery constraints; implement mitigation strategies early in the design phase. Execute, review and approve design drawings, fabrication details, stress calculations, computational analyses (FEA) to ensure structural adequacy, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Interface directly with customers, authorized inspectors, regulatory bodies, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project momentum. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to design engineers and drafters; review and validate their work to ensure technical accuracy and consistency with company standards. Track engineering deliverables, hours, KPIs, and manufacturing cost impacts; support continuous improvement in design efficiency, standardization, and cost optimization. Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to non-conformances, field failures, or manufacturing deviations involving pressure-retaining components. Drive standardization efforts for end closures, sealing mechanisms, and vessel components to reduce lead time, cost, and variability while maintaining compliance and safety margins. Execute assignments with broad technical direction, exercising independent engineering judgment within defined commercial and regulatory constraints. Ensure full compliance with company policies, quality management systems, and HSE requirements at all stages of design and execution. FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Provide all necessary engineering documentation for any specific released design. Interpret and apply all company and engineering standards. Prepare technical data for bids and estimates such raw material sizes and datasheets. Work with minimum supervision and direct less senior staff under the Engineering Manager. Resolve problems in design and production releases through consultation with experienced people in the company, available computer programs, and company standards and procedures. Travel occasionally to support Engineering, Sales & Service Departments. Assist and train contract personnel to provide them with technical and project leadership. Comply with and perform Quality Management System requirements Comply with and perform HSE requirements for area of responsibility Working with legal, coordinating contracts, reviewing contracts.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
  • Minimum 10 years as a product design engineer in the Exploration and Production sector of O&G
  • Experience as an engineer on a variety of small to medium scale projects
  • Strong engineering background with a solid understanding of pipeline and pressure vessel design and operations as they pertain to the petrochemical industry
  • Experienced at interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams in executing assigned projects
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and subcontracting)
  • Experience with FEA applied to pressure vessels
  • Competent on ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1.
  • Create general 3D layouts and general arrangements for bids, FEEDs, and project kick offs
  • Teamcenter PLM system
  • Develop product datasheets
  • Develop project specifications
  • Interpreting technical and project specifications
  • Background using Abaqus
  • CAD system management experience
  • Oil and Gas technical knowledge
  • Microsoft Office
  • Experienced with Pipeline and Pressure Industry Codes such as B31.8 and ASME BPVC Section VIII
  • Knowledge of welding and machining fabrication
  • Knowledge of welding and material specifications as it pertains to Oil and Gas equipment manufacturing
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks and Teamcenter PLM

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Division 2 would be an asset
  • P.E. preferred or ability to obtain in 18 months
