Senior Design Engineer Instrumentation and Controls - Power Group

Fluor•Raleigh, SC
•$119,500 - $222,500

About The Position

The Senior Design Engineer Instrumentation and Controls provides I&C engineering leadership, technical direction, and project execution expertise for gas-fired combined-cycle (CCGT/NGCC) and simple-cycle gas turbine (SCGT) power generation EPC projects. The role promotes Fluor’s competitiveness by delivering quality services and technical expertise, and serves as an I&C Area Lead or I&C Engineering Lead on assigned projects. It leads I&C engineering scope from project development and design through procurement, construction support, commissioning, and start-up support. The position requires experience delivering control systems for large-scale gas turbine power generation facilities and coordinating I&C engineering across disciplines, project functions, engineering offices, vendors, and construction teams. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and project execution practices to develop safe, reliable, code-compliant, and cost-effective solutions for gas-fired power projects. The role includes leading development and review of control systems and related engineering for gas turbine and combined-cycle power plants, such as turbine and generator auxiliaries, balance-of-plant systems, emergency and standby power, electrical protection and metering, turbine-vendor interfaces, high-voltage systems, burner management, distributed control systems, instrumentation, and plant network architecture. It also includes project planning and controls, estimates and schedules, deliverable review, construction support, and mentoring junior engineers.
