About The Position

As a Senior Design Engineer you will design, develop, build, and implement new products, components or technologies for Caterpillar Fleet Products. In this role, you will need to collaborate with product and engineering teams in order to solve complex and global technical problems. That will require coordination for the planning and delivery of projects for new models, features and options specifically for integrating Command for Hauling systems that allow Haul Trucks to run autonomously within a Minestar Environment.

Requirements

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate relevant job-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Product Applications (Command for Hauling) preferred
  • Prior experience supporting Machine Design projects; including but not limited to Light Fabrications or Electrical/Electronics Integrations.
  • Experience with APQP, FMEA, and Supply Chain
  • Proven experience as a Project Leader – New Product Development as well as mentoring others
  • Experience with Creo, Team Center or 6Sigma preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researching new materials and competitive products.
  • Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.
  • Assisting supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance.
  • Overseeing the efforts of drafting and testing specialists.
  • Providing technical guidance and initiate ideas for new products for Autonomy Hardware on Haul Trucks
  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents as well as validation plans.
  • Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.
  • Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
