About The Position

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for their Battery New Product Development team. This role involves the design and development of batteries, motors, electronics, and mechanisms that power their products. The engineer will be a technical resource and mechanical engineering leader, contributing to the design and development of new battery products in a fast-paced environment. The position requires strong engineering expertise, project management abilities, and the capacity to lead or contribute to multiple projects. The engineer will also provide clear engineering information to project leaders and global engineering teams, facilitate trade-off decisions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical leadership. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining build test plans and methods, serving as a technical resource, and providing mentorship. Experience with engineering problem-solving methods such as FEA, DOE, Fishbone, FMEA, and GD&T is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical
  • 5 years of design experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD – ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar as well as FEA.
  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge, problem solving, and experience in process development and design evaluation.
  • Experience designing lithium-ion battery cores and power routing.
  • Experience with manufacturing process – Injection molding, stamping, and plating
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).
  • High interest in tools of the construction trades and outdoor power equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on battery new product development
  • Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade off decisions cross functionally as well as marketing.
  • Consistently provide clear and concise communication to technical and non-technical leadership
  • Ability to handle multiple mid to high complexity projects either individually or as team lead
  • Develop and maintain build test plans and methods between milestones to ensure project efficiency
  • Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others.
  • Experience using engineering problem solving methods (FEA, DOE, Fishbone, FMEA, GD&T) to derive root cause and potential solutions
