About The Position

Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Embedded Systems Environments (ESE) organization enables the development of the next generation medical technologies that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions of patients across the world. As a Senior Design Automation Engineer, you will be enabling the design and test of Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and end-to-end testing of the complete care system used by clinicians and patients worldwide. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of technical experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • The employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
  • Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and interest in supporting EDA tools and environments
  • Experience automating, supporting and running hardware designs on accelerators (preferably Cadence Palladium)
  • Experience with FPGA designs and FPGA tools (preferably Xilinx)
  • Experience with static timing analysis tools
  • Hardware Design Experience
  • Deep knowledge of scripting with Perl, Python, TCL, or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge of digital simulators (e.g. Cadence – Incisive, VCS)
  • Deep knowledge of Verilog, System Verilog languages
  • Working knowledge of design management tools and flows (SVN preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Working knowledge of Palladium power analysis
  • Working knowledge of assertion-based verification (formal & dynamic) and coverage driven-constrained random verification
  • Emphasis on the application of CAE processes and tools for accurate, high-quality flows and designs to support projects

Responsibilities

  • Performing tool installs, upgrades, set-up and license management for our various EDA tools (Cadence Palladium software, RPP software, Xilinx, ARM and Lauterbach debuggers)
  • Develop training courses and deliver methodology training and proactive support to design community for these tools and environments
  • Validate & production release software
  • Point of contact for interfacing with tool vendors and projects
  • Assist design engineers in debugging issues running designs on Palladium/RPP
  • Debug Compile/Synthesis issues on Palladium/RPP
  • Maintain Palladium Linux host nodes
  • Run diagnostics on the Palladium, perform routine maintenance
  • Optimize emulation performance on either Palladium or RPP
  • Support connecting hardware/speed bridges to the palladium including setting up I/O
  • Install Linux operating system on host nodes
  • Setup job scheduling for these resources
  • Install Debuggers boxes (DSTREAM or Lauterbach) and manage their firmware updates
  • Model various analog and digital functions for emulation such as memory, power supplies, clocking etc
