About The Position

As a Senior Design Assurance Technician at Itron, you will play a critical role in advancing innovative solutions within the Utilities and Energy technology space. You will support product development by validating electrical and mechanical performance and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Working collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional partners, you will help deliver high-quality, customer-centric solutions while maintaining laboratory excellence. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a laboratory technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems to the component level.
  • Hands-on experience with standard laboratory test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an accountable and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience as a laboratory technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Experience supporting product validation in a regulated or standards-driven industry.
  • Familiarity with automated test systems and basic software modification or scripting.
  • Proven ability to contribute to process improvements and drive innovative solutions.
  • Experience mentoring or training team members in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing procedures on a variety of equipment, including analog, digital, and logic circuits, components, and instruments, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Operate and utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal or pulse generators, power supplies, and specialized tools with precision and accountability.
  • Troubleshoot test failures and company-manufactured products to a functional block or component level, demonstrating a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Perform test system adjustments, alignments, and preventive maintenance to ensure consistent and high-quality laboratory operations.
  • Assemble, repair, and maintain test systems and fixtures according to assembly drawings and instructions.
  • Set up and operate manual and automated test systems, ensuring alignment with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Conduct performance testing on products to validate compliance with internal and external standards, supporting customer-focused outcomes.
  • Train and mentor operators and junior technicians on proper use of equipment and test systems, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
  • Construct moderately complex circuits from schematic diagrams and perform hand-soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components.
  • Perform a wide range of electrical and electronic measurements using appropriate bench equipment.
  • Develop, write, and release simple to moderately complex test procedures and reports with clarity and accuracy.
  • Modify and support software programs used in testing, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Record and analyze test and measurement data in spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Partner cross-functionally to support agile development cycles and deliver breakthrough, customer-centric solutions.
