Senior Deployment Engineer

MytraBrisbane, CA
$120,000 - $135,000Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Deployment Engineer owns a site and is the definitive expert on its state — from as-built conditions to open risks. From construction through commissioning to sustainment handoff, you are the technical authority on the ground — executing within the system the Deployment Lead defines, with full autonomous authority over site-level decisions — gate advancement, sequencing tradeoffs, and contractor direction — without requiring sign-off. You will work closely with trade contractors, Deployment Engineers on your site team, and the Deployment Lead. The Deployment Lead provides day-to-day field direction and is your primary escalation point for cross-site issues and decisions that exceed site authority. You will interface directly with customer facilities and operations teams at key milestones — commissioning readiness reviews, SAT, and sustainment handoff — coordinated through various other teams including, but not limited to Project Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software, Sustainment, and Customer Success. In practice, that means diagnosing unexpected site constraints — power, network, building conditions — and re-sequencing commissioning without losing the week. Isolating intermittent network instability across RF layout, DHCP planning, switching, and compute when the system won't stabilize. Catching SAT readiness risk late and recovering the plan before it becomes a customer miss. The common thread: ambiguous problems, real stakes, no one telling you the answer, and a permanent fix required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Proven cross-functional leadership: you've driven delivery across trades, internal engineering, and customer teams without formal authority over them
  • Experience directing technicians or junior engineers on a site team — setting task direction, reviewing work quality, and closing gaps through coaching
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction blueprints
  • Experience building and enforcing gate-driven QC and objective evidence capture
  • Strong trade contractor management: scheduling, sequencing, and holding quality across multiple trades on a live site
  • Comfortable executing independently in high-ambiguity environments and adapting on the fly

Nice To Haves

  • Network and IT infrastructure bring-up: DHCP/IP planning, Wi-Fi/AP layout, onsite compute preflight
  • Experience in industrial, robotics, or automation environments
  • Safety systems commissioning: machine guarding, E-stop circuits, safety controller bring-up; comfort in partially energized environments
  • Demonstrated ability to scale field processes and train others into them
  • Familiarity with industrial controls and electrical panel-building
  • Familiarity with forklift certification and comfort around heavy equipment

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end site delivery from construction through commissioning to sustainment handoff
  • Hold and enforce the commissioning readiness gate — reject advancement until evidence-based acceptance criteria are met
  • Surface every deployment's learnings — escapes, as-built deltas, playbook gaps — with enough context for the Deployment Lead to systematize them into program-wide improvements
  • Coach Deployment Engineers on rigorous gate execution and the standard of evidence required to advance commissioning milestones; set the quality bar for deployment artifacts across the site team
  • Manage sequencing and scheduling across trade contractors to keep site progress on track
  • For decisions that exceed site authority, escalate to the Deployment Lead with a complete decision packet: evidence, root-cause hypothesis, proposed options, and a clear decision ask
