Job Description Summary Th e Senior Hardware Engineering Delivery Lead will be responsible for leading the design and development of key Central Fill New Product Development initiatives within the Pharmacy Automation robotic portfolio. In recent years, Medication Management Solutions (MMS) has built this history through a significant expansion into the high-growth pharmacy automation space and is now one of the global leaders in pharmacy automation. The Pharmacy Automation platform positions BD to offer our pharmacy customers a more comprehensive set of smart , connected care technologies as they expand care to new settings, centralize their pharmacy operations and lead the charge in addressing some of the biggest challenges facing the industry . BD’s Pharmacy Automation portfolio covers a wide range of hardware and software technologies from storage and dispensing robots, inspection systems, pouch packagers, vial filling systems, blister card production robotics, and central fill solutions with enterprise pharmacy management software. This technical leader will be responsible for leading the hardware development activities and quality design improvements within the pharmacy automation central fill portfolio. Th is ideal hardware engineering leader will display e xcellent multi-functional communication skills, strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous areas to drive decisions. Strong business acuity with steadfast focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and expedition in delivery of projects will be pivotal in this role . Demonstrated analytical, decision making, prioritization, and problem-solving skills will be key .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field
  • 7 years’ related work experience in leading complex electro-mechanical product development.
  • Experience leading engineering teams that consist of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers , and control software engineers to meet planned achievements.
  • Experience with automated equipment including robotics, conveyance, and associated process control.
  • Understand ing full cycl e product development and quality management systems.
  • Understandi ng current sa fety and regulatory standards for automated equipment.
  • Experience working with global teams and external development partners.
  • Leadership experience in a complex development environment.
  • Experience with development milestone planning and project management methodologies (Agile and/or waterfall) for complex systems
  • Willing and able to travel 10-20 % of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in engineering field
  • Experience using simulation software to proactively model and analyze system performance.
  • Central Fill medication fulfillment experience
  • PMP Certification

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategic hardware direction to improve customer efficiency within Pharmacy Automation’s Central Fill Portfolio.
  • Lead functional members of the Hardware Engineering Team through the development of key NPD initiatives by providing day to day technical guidance to ensure work is high quality, on-time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to brainstorm and define technical product strategies and technology roadmaps.
  • Establish a hardware architecture that meets requirements within a standardized set of product offerings.
  • Clearly articulate the vision and plan as to how a concept could transition into a profitable solution.
  • If required, quickly drive hardware concepts into prototypes to validate feasibility and eliminate risks.
  • Assess all proposed custom developments and proactively identify risks and issues and advance them as appropriate .
  • Use a data driven structured initiative prioritization process to ensure high value items receive proper attention.
  • Develop an integrated R&D product development project plan to deliver and implement efficiently and with sound quality.
  • Collaborate with core teams and other functional leaders to ensure that proposed hardware developments are aligned with organizational goals and objectives and provide updates on program performance metrics and progress of plans.
  • Apply the best engineering practices in design, analysis, simulation, integration, test, and documentation in all engineering subject areas.
  • Ensure alignment to company processes and procedures including Design Controls, Product Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, Phase Reviews.
  • Utilize Design for Six Sigma development methodologies and other best-in-class R&D tools across the portfolio and provide training and guidance to assigned team members as needed.
  • Provide labor and non-labor needs and schedule estimations for hardware related scope and work.
  • Plan and administer yearly portfolio budget to ensure proper execution of deliverables are aligned to business value.
  • Work with R&D functional leaders to assign engineering fields necessary to achieve key goals.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to direct and in-direct reports with the ability to deep dive into technical issues.
  • Clearly articulate goals and expectations to individual contributors to support the tea m’ s success while constructively mentoring and giving appropriate feedback .
  • Help support a data driven culture.
  • Closely monitor product field performance and conduct RCA analysis on top field failures.
