Senior Decision Support Analyst - Decision Support - Full Time 8 Hours Days (Non-Union, Exempt)
About The Position
The Senior Decision Support Analyst bridges the gap between complex data and business strategy. The analyst will develop reporting tools, build predictive financial models, and lead cross-functional analysis to guide executive leadership. Responsibilities include mentoring junior analysts, ensuring data integrity, and translating data trends into actionable, strategic recommendations. As a subject matter expert, the analyst will analyze complex problems using patient-level financial and clinical data to support strategic hospital decision-making. The role will involve defining and executing a wide variety of analytical projects, anticipate client needs, establish project scope, identify data sources, translate data into polished deliverables, create dashboards correlating metrics to financial results, formulate business strategies, and present recommendations to executives. This position requires you to maintain a high degree of knowledge in healthcare, finance, and operations, including staying current on evolving industry trends. The position will involve budget development, cost accounting review, service line reporting, revenue cycle analysis, workflow automation and financial reporting.
Requirements
- 5+ years Experience in hospital, insurance, or related healthcare finance.
- Knowledge of hospital decision support and EMR systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to translate clinical needs into financial terms and explain results to a non-financial audience.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to rapid changes and industry shifts.
- Strong commitment to high-quality deliverables, professional collaboration, and skill development.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau highly desired.
- Understanding of healthcare coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, UB-04, HCPCS, MS DRG, CPT, etc.).
- Ability to write SQL and other coding languages a plus.
- Familiarity with Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursement.
- Experience with Strata financial suite.
Responsibilities
- Interface with executive and physician leadership.

- Analyze and interpret data by applying data aggregation, visualization and statistical analysis.

- Provide analytic and consultative support to a broad spectrum of internal customer areas and external business partners.
- Mentor colleagues with less experience on both the technical and business aspects of project and consultative work.
- Determine how decision support systems will provide information required to make effective business decisions, translate requirements into applications that employ appropriate decision support and reporting tools.
- Use broad experience and technical knowledge to propose solutions to complex business problems.
- Take the lead in driving the implementation of the recommended solutions.
- Create and/or develop new methods of analysis, database design, and performance measurement or, in some cases, adaptation of existing solutions to new areas.
- Perform modeling of data sources and flows, work with data management staff to define an operational framework that will define, develop, and implement policies and security frameworks to ensure precise and secure deliver of knowledge and information.
- Develop and maintain moderate-to extremely complex computer programs using 4GL programming languages (such as SAS, R, SQL) and other database technology (DB2, Teradata, and Oracle).
