Senior Decision Scientist, Core Experiences

Life360
•$106,500 - $195,500•Remote

About The Position

Life360 is hiring a Senior Decision Scientist to partner strategically with product and engineering teams, helping shape product development, growth, and investment decisions. The role owns the analytical narrative for its area and delivers insights that influence roadmaps and resource allocation. Its primary output is actionable decisions rather than dashboards, using statistical inference, clear reasoning, and judgment about which questions matter most. This is not a production machine-learning role. The Senior Decision Scientist reports to the Data & Analytics leadership team and works alongside data engineers, data scientists, and ML engineers. The position is remote-first and may be performed remotely within the US unless otherwise specified. The US-based salary range is $106,500 to $195,500, with final base pay varying according to qualifications and geographic tier. Total compensation includes RSUs and a benefits package. The role uses AI tools and automated analysis to increase impact and help shape Life360’s AI-native analytics stack. It partners with cross-functional teams to understand product roadmaps and users, establish causality, develop metrics strategies, explain user behavior, and turn findings into actions. Candidates should bring strong problem-solving and ownership, curiosity about user outcomes, and experience using AI tools as development partners.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in an analytics, data science, or decision science role at a consumer technology company.
  • An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as economics, statistics, quantitative social science, or operations research, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated applied experience with causal inference methods, such as difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, synthetic controls, or propensity score matching.
  • A track record of influencing product or business strategy through data, with specific examples of cross-functional impact.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig, Optimizely, or similar.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for statistical analysis.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems precisely before selecting tools.
  • Ownership from question framing through recommendations and impact tracking.
  • Experience using AI tooling such as Claude Code or an equivalent as a development partner, including delegating discrete tasks, critically reviewing outputs, and running parallel workstreams.
  • Curiosity about whether the product meaningfully improves users’ lives, beyond whether a feature changes a metric.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with growth experimentation design in networked or social contexts.
  • Experience building dbt models or contributing to analytics engineering workflows.
  • Experience with retention analytics driven by a high-quality product experience.
  • Experience with subscription or freemium business models.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, marketing, and finance, identifying gaps between data and team assumptions.
  • Present clear, persuasive narratives and points of view to leadership and working teams to drive action.
  • Establish causality using appropriate methods, including A/B testing, analytics, and causal inference.
  • Collaborate with engineering on event instrumentation and with Product to translate insights into action.
  • Develop and implement metrics strategies based on how users experience the product, measuring outcomes that matter to users and the business.
  • Build explanations that connect observed user behavior with its underlying reasons.
  • Use coding agents and automated analysis in daily work, and help shape the AI-native analytics stack and its evolution toward proactive and autonomous analytics.
  • Own analytical work from framing the question through delivering recommendations and tracking their impact.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans, 100% paid for employees.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching program.
  • Mental Wellness Program and Employee Assistance Program.
  • Flexible paid time off, companywide holidays, and summer and winter shutdowns.
  • Learning and Development programs.
  • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment.
  • Free Life360 Platinum Membership and Tile trackers.
  • Equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
