About The Position

EXL is hiring a Senior Database Specialist to support and manage Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases across production and non-production environments. The role covers database installation, configuration, monitoring, patching, upgrades, performance optimization, incident response, data modeling, mirroring, and backup and recovery. It also involves scripting and automation, compliance and audit support, and collaboration with application teams and vendors on database solutions and lifecycle management. The position provides 24x7 support, including on-call rotation and weekend coverage, and calls for staying current with cloud technologies and AI/GenAI developments.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience as a Senior DBA, with expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, other RDBMS, and Linux infrastructure management.
• Hands-on senior DBA experience with Oracle Single Instance/RAC, Multitenant, and Active Data Guard; SQL Server; and PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in RDBMS installations, patching, and upgrades.
• Experience tuning SQL and PL/SQL performance.
• Experience managing databases larger than 50 TB.
• Strong Linux administration and scripting skills.
• Experience administering AWS and Azure; cloud experience with S3 buckets and file transfers.
• Experience with Datadog, NewRelic, Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c or later, and Toad.
• Knowledge and experience with AI/GenAI technologies, including AI-driven automation, predictive analytics, and AI-based database optimization.
• Ability to use GenAI to automate repetitive DBA tasks and improve DevOps pipelines.
• Exposure to AI in cloud ecosystems, such as AWS AI services and Azure Cognitive Services, for database management.
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and analytical skills.
• Experience with compliance management and audit support.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, collaborate with development and product teams, and support team members when required.
• Innovative mindset and strategic thinking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Databricks administration experience; listed as good to have.
• Managing and upgrading Oracle APEX; listed as a plus.
• Knowledge of MongoDB and other RDBMS.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
• Install, configure, and monitor databases, ensuring compliance with security and audit standards.
• Optimize SQL and PL/SQL performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents within SLAs.
• Design and implement data models, mirroring, and backup and recovery strategies.
• Automate processes using Shell, PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, and Perl.
• Collaborate with application teams and vendors on database solutions and lifecycle management.
• Provide 24x7 support, including on-call rotation and weekend coverage.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging cloud technologies, and AI/GenAI advancements.
