About The Position

The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems and related applications. The individual will also define and administer effective database standards, access methods, and security procedures. The Database Administrator provides technical consulting to applications development staff on the use of database solutions in solving business needs. Additionally, this individual acts as the subject matter expert and technical liaison with respect to business intelligence and enterprise reporting for various business units.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree with 4 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale SQL Server migrations (e.g., 2016 to 2022) with minimal downtime.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to mentor junior team members and provide technical consulting to cross-functional development teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in highly regulated environments (ITAR, CMMC, or similar) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with or interest in hybrid-cloud data platforms (e.g., GCP, BigQuery)

Responsibilities

  • Manage user security and access to databases to ensure a highly controlled access environment.
  • Apply database server related patches.
  • Design database security standards.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade MSSQL & Oracle environments.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design database architecture, databases and database objects to meet organizational goals and requirements.
  • Participate in the planning, designing, implementing, and testing of newly and modified database configurations.
  • Design database replication and automation tools.
  • Maintains database system uptime and fulfills Plexus's Application SLA.
  • Ensure all database components are working as expected.
  • Investigate and resolve any issues associated with database performance.
  • Monitor databases for efficiency and make necessary adjustments to database parameters and architecture to ensure optimal performance.
  • Plan, prepare, and test database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Develop and design regional database backup policies, standards, procedures and guidelines to meet organizational goals and requirements.
  • Define and implement consistent standards across databases.
  • Provide regular training and feedback to developers and junior DBA's.
  • All GT team members are responsible for upholding the organization's cybersecurity posture by adhering to security policies and procedures, actively participating in training, protecting data and systems, actively identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity or potential security incidents.
  • Design and maintain high-availability, mission-critical database clusters including Always-On Availability Groups and robust Disaster Recovery strategies for global operations
