About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing PostgreSQL database clusters with replication, managing database security/integrity and backup procedures, and upgrading database instances from lower versions to current versions. You will also assist with database design and development and tuning queries. Additionally, you will administer and support GCP CloudSQL for PostgreSQL environments, including instance configuration, maintenance, monitoring, backup/recovery, and performance tuning. You will support CloudSQL PostgreSQL connectivity, IAM/database user access, private networking, and operational readiness for application teams in GCP. You will independently manage MongoDB installations and configurations in Linux environments and cloud (GCP), implementing multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters across Linux platforms and MongoDB Atlas on GCP. You will ensure database security with knowledge of audit, security, backup/recovery, and encryption at rest. You will tackle complex problems through conceptualization and reasoning.

Requirements

• 5+ Years as a Database Administrator
• Strong PostgreSQL skills from version 14 to current
• Hands-on experience supporting GCP CloudSQL for PostgreSQL, including high availability, backups, IAM/database access, monitoring, patching, and performance troubleshooting
• Experience with GCP networking concepts relevant to CloudSQL PostgreSQL, including private IP connectivity and secure application connectivity patterns
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB Enterprise and MongoDB Atlas
• Proficient in configuring MongoDB in a Linux environment and cloud
• Experience with implementing multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters
• Knowledge of audit processes, security measures, encryption at rest, MongoDB version upgrades
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Bachelor's degree or related work experience

Nice To Haves

• Prior Scotia experience
• Google Cloud Platform certification or hands-on experience with CloudSQL PostgreSQL operations in an enterprise environment
• The ideal candidate would have experience with PostgreSQL, GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. They should also be competent working with Linux and GCP or another
