About The Position

This role requires advanced knowledge in the application of field survey, including preparing calculations, layouts, and reports for survey projects. The technician will utilize various computer programs for data gathering, formula calculations, studies, and report generation. Responsibilities include attending client meetings, analyzing reports, maps, and aerial photographs for project planning, and applying survey principles to meet project challenges. The position involves continuous monitoring of hardware, software, and technology, maintaining QC/QA standards, and reviewing QC/QA data performed by Survey Data Technicians. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure.
  • Thorough understanding of the practices associated with survey records research.
  • The ability to incorporate field notes and survey data into computer based drafting software for reduction to engineering.
  • The ability to consolidate survey data, as-builts, aerial photo data, and maps, etc. into presentable and accurate base maps for design and finished drawings and easements using AutoCAD.
  • Advanced understanding of GIS concepts and processes uses and operations of GPS data capture equipment and software.
  • Excellent computer/internet skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Outlook are required.
  • Experience with Carlson Civil Suite, Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, Civil 3D, Pix4D.
  • Experience with processing point cloud data.
  • Experience with 3D survey drawings.
  • The ability to maintain a great deal of interaction with clients.
  • The ability to make boundary determinations under responsible charge
  • Capacity to conduct and participate in meetings with senior management
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in surveying or closely related field.
  • Able to obtain CST level III and/or LSIT.
  • 2-5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree and/or LSIT or 5-7 years’ experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform work that requires advanced knowledge in the application of field survey.
  • Prepare calculations, layouts, reports, etc. for survey projects.
  • Utilize various computer programs for data and information gathering, formula calculations, various studies and report generating and prepares written reports.
  • Attend client meetings – as required.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photographs for project planning.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment and apply survey principles to meet project challenges.
  • Communicates with Principal Surveyor, Project Manager and/or Survey Coordinator about workload.
  • Continually monitors hardware, software, and technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain QC/QA standards and procedures for office and field data.
  • Review QC/QA data performed by Survey Data Technician.
