About The Position

Land O'Lakes, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Solution Architect/Engineer for their Purina Animal Nutrition division in Gray Summit, MO. This role involves engineering the Data Analytics platform to manage large datasets and provide insights to researchers for product enhancement. The position will also develop, design, and deliver dashboards, data visualizations, and data pipelines for various business units outside of the PANDA platform. Key responsibilities include architecture design, project implementation, prototype development, and technical engagements with barn managers and researchers to assess data collection needs and provide proactive alerts. The role also entails setting up and leading monthly update meetings, developing technical leadership and learning plans, and collaborating with data scientists, business leaders, and researchers for product development. Additionally, the position will identify opportunities and work with barn managers, sales, marketing, and research departments to develop and deploy digital products aimed at improving sales, efficiency, and processes. The position offers a hybrid work model and requires the candidate to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Gray Summit, MO.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering Science, or Data Science/Analytics
• 2 years’ experience as a data scientist or data engineer
• 2 years of experience with ETL tools, SQL Databases, Data Warehousing, and Data Modeling
• 2 years of experience with Python, R, SQL, and Scala for processing large datasets in animal science, including statistical analysis and predictive modeling
• 2 years of experience with Power platforms (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power Pivot, Microsoft Fabric) to create dashboards and reports related to animal health, farm productivity, and research findings
• 2 years of experience collaborating with barn managers, animal technicians, and veterinarians to develop and support custom applications in VB6 for animal nutrition data collection and performance tracking
• 2 years of experience designing and optimizing data pipelines of farm data using cloud technologies, including Azure Functions, Data Lake, and APIs
• 1 year of experience building, training, and deploying machine learning and data science models to predict health, feeding, growth, and performance-related attributes
• 1 year of experience developing and supporting data solutions that interface with barn management systems using SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, and similar tools
• 1 year of experience in network engineering, including maintenance of networking hardware like switches, routers, and APs

Responsibilities

• Engineer the Purina Animal Nutrition Data Analytics platform to handle vast datasets and deliver dynamic insights to researchers enhancing existing products.
• Develop, design, and deliver high-impact dashboards, data visualizations, and data pipelines across different businesses/teams within the organization outside of the PANDA.
• Organize and prepare Data Platform & Advanced Analytics, including architecture design, project implementations, and prototype development.
• Organize, collaborate and assess on-site technical engagements with barn managers and researchers to assess data collection and timely monitoring needs for research studies and provide proactive alerts and insights for necessary actions for animals.
• Set and drive monthly update meetings with species groups to review current research studies and trends.
• Proactively develop technical leadership and learning plans in alignment with the manager to support the research organization with new technologies.
• Establish and conduct engagements with data scientists, business leaders and researchers for product development and optimization.
• Identify opportunities and work closely with barn managers, sales, marketing and research department to ideate, develop and deploy the digital products for improving the incremental sales, efficiency and processes.
