About The Position

The Senior Data Scientist applies advanced analytics, statistics, and machine learning and artificial intelligence to non-destructive testing (NDT) data and asset health data. This role focuses on extracting insight from complex industrial datasets—such as time-series, imaging and process data—to improve quality, reliability, effectiveness, and operational performance. The position is highly hands-on, emphasizing model development, validation, deployment in industrial environments and code maintenance and therefore combines deep technical expertise with business acumen.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • 5–8+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning
  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability theory, machine learning and agentic AI
  • Strong foundation in defect and anomaly detection, digital signal & image processing and physics-based modelling
  • High proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow)
  • High proficiency in C/C++
  • High proficiency in numerical simulation software such as MATLAB, COMSOL Multiphysics, ES Beam Tool, CIVA
  • Proficiency in cloud and data/software platforms such as AWS, MongoDB, SQL, GitHub, or Jira
  • Proficiency in non-destructive inspections (NDT/NDE) and asset health testing/condition monitoring
  • Proven experience deploying models into production environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence decisions with data

Responsibilities

  • Perform numerical simulations using commercially available modelling software such as COMSOL and ES Beam Tool to support Sales, exhibitions, publications, internal R&D and procedure development
  • Improve technology readiness level (TRL) of an ATS proprietary ultrasonic inspection software package
  • Develop, deploy and maintain advanced analysis software of commercially available sensor solutions (e.g., vibration and temperature sensors) including data engineering tasks and data pipeline development
  • Develop, deploy and maintain digital signal & imaging processing applications, for internal and external R&D
  • Support the prototyping of ultrasonic immersion testing solutions with the development, deployment and maintenance of operating and analysis applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine application requirement specifications, perform testing & integration and perform user acceptance testing
  • Support the implementation of GitHub and JIRA for revision control and project management
  • Communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
