About The Position

Reddit is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to partner with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Business Development, to build and improve systems that drive user and revenue growth. The Data Science hiring process is general, with candidates matched to the product area that best fits their background and interests, including Consumer, Ads, or Safety. The Senior Data Scientist will help define product strategy through measurement and metrics design, experimentation, causal analysis, deep data analysis, and research. The role calls for an industry technical leader with a strong technical background, business acumen, and excellent cross-functional stakeholder management skills. The position is US remote-friendly or may be based at an office in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York. The base salary range is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The role is eligible for restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may also be eligible for commission.

Requirements

Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.
For candidates with a Master's degree: 5 or more years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
For candidates with a Ph.D.: 4 or more years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
Expertise querying relational databases using SQL and programming in languages such as R or Python.
Deep understanding of online experimentation (A/B testing), causal inference, and statistical techniques.
Comfort working in innovative, fast-paced environments and a bias toward action.
Strong technical communication and data storytelling skills, including the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to address ambiguous and undefined problems by creating an action plan, gathering feedback, and iterating.

Responsibilities

Develop action-oriented insights to shape product strategy through observational causal analysis and experiment meta-analysis, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders, including the C-suite.
Improve the team's experimentation practices by guiding experiment design and execution and conducting in-depth analyses of A/B tests.
Create ETLs, tables, dashboards, and other self-serve tools that help data scientists and cross-functional partners access and use data.
Design, evaluate, and measure team-level KPIs to support quarterly goal setting and demonstrate team impact.
Engage regularly with stakeholders to gather feedback, share work progress, and align Data Science and other teams on business goals and outcomes.
Mentor junior data scientists and business partners in data science best practices and methods to improve data literacy and decision-making.
