About The Position

Oscar is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to support its pharmacy benefit through data pipelines, models, and analytics that improve medication access, member experience, and plan affordability. The role works with clinical, business, product, and engineering partners on formulary optimization, utilization and population-need trend analytics, and prior authorization automation. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Data Science. The role leads a small team responsible for pharmacy-benefit data pipelines, develops and operationalizes clinical AI and machine-learning applications, and applies advanced analytics to assess financial and health-outcome questions. It also involves partnering with business and technical stakeholders to prioritize opportunities, set success metrics, and guide experiments through evaluation and implementation, as well as managing and developing junior data scientists. • Use advanced analytics to evaluate financial and health-outcome questions related to clinical policies, benefit design, and member programs.
  • Develop models and scenario analyses to quantify tradeoffs, test assumptions, characterize uncertainty, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Validate analytical methods and results to ensure conclusions are robust and appropriate for the decisions they inform.
  • Collaborate with data leaders and business teams to enhance data processes, understand needs, provide data support, develop solutions, and lead execution with the team.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to prioritize opportunities, define success metrics, and guide experiments through evaluation and implementation.
