About The Position
PhaseV is a cutting-edge startup focused on innovating the drug development process. We utilize advanced causal inference and machine learning to analyze clinical data, extract actionable insights, and optimize clinical trial planning. Our proprietary ML-based platform enables sponsors to design and execute more efficient, precise, and successful adaptive clinical trials. We collaborate with leading pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and biotechs to significantly impact drug development and market introduction. We are seeking a talented Data Scientist with a strong foundation in machine learning and statistics, and an interest in causal inference, to join our research team. This role involves direct client interaction, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to proactively navigate ambiguity. The position offers autonomy and the chance to make a significant impact on a growing business.
Requirements
- Master's in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning roles
- Experience with ML in a practical research or industry setting
- Background in statistical modeling and analysis
- Work experience in a biotechnology/life sciences environment
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning
- Experience with data visualization and communication of technical concepts
- Ability to communicate results clearly and effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. is an advantage but not required
- R in addition - an advantage
- Familiarity with causal inference concepts
- Experience with large-scale data processing
Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize ML algorithms, with a focus on causal ML applications in clinical trials
- Collaborate with senior data scientists to develop and improve our analytical platforms
- Work alongside clinical and biological experts to translate complex problems into technical solutions
- Conduct rigorous statistical analyses of both randomized and observational data
- Develop and validate methods for responder identification and treatment effect estimation
- Document and present methodologies and results for internal and external stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business development teams
- Contribute to technical discussions and peer code reviews
- Support the preparation of technical documentation and research papers
