About The Position

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design. Canva is looking for insightful data scientists to help them make that happen. The product has grown enormously in the last few years, with hundreds of millions of users generating enormous quantities of data every single day. To help fuel future growth, the company needs to better understand its data. This role will be a genuine data partner with the team and the broader business, helping to make the most of the vast amounts of data available. The Senior Data Scientist will be on the Finance Data & Analytics team, understanding financial data at Canva and using it to make that data actionable. This role will support the Revenue accounting team to build reusable data assets and dashboards to support month/quarter end close activities.

Requirements

• Knowledge and experience with at least one data analysis language (e.g: SQL, Python, R, etc)
• Strong knowledge and experience on data analysis (e.g. intermediate-advanced level of Excel, Alteryx Certified, Tableau Prep, Knime, etc)
• Knowledge and experience using visualisation and BI tools (e.g. Mode, Tableau, Looker, MicroStrategy, PowerBI, etc)
• Soft skills & personal qualities that tend to make data analysts successful – attention to accuracy, interpreting data faithfully, speaking persuasively in public, and writing concisely and clearly.
• Grounding in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor's degree in a STEM area.
• Experience working in a tech company and familiarity with the way a tech company operates and some of the concepts particular to our industry (e.g. growth accounting, product funnels, designing analytic events, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Establish automated, traceable, and immutable revenue data pipelines that meet external audit standards.
• Reduce manual reconciliation effort through automation and anomaly detection.
• Improve accuracy and completeness of revenue data within Finance data warehouse across payment gateways and billing service data domains.
• Develop compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations that effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Works with various stakeholders to continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of data collection and preparation.
