About The Position

Fliff is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their marketing and growth team. This role will be the analytical backbone for user acquisition, retention, and growth, responsible for building models, dashboards, and analyses to optimize marketing spend, targeting, and player understanding. A key focus will be measuring the long-term impact of marketing and promotional investments on player behavior, retention, and lifetime value. The position requires a blend of data engineering, modeling, and storytelling skills, working directly with marketing, product, and finance leaders to translate data into business decisions. The role involves end-to-end ownership, from data extraction and cleaning to model building and stakeholder presentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a data scientist, marketing analyst, or growth analyst, preferably in consumer app, gaming, fintech, or subscription business.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with large, messy behavioral datasets.
  • Hands-on experience building predictive models in Python (LTV, churn, propensity, segmentation) using libraries like scikit-learn, XGBoost, or similar.
  • Experience evaluating the long-term and incremental impact of marketing and promotional spend.
  • Working knowledge of causal inference methods (diff-in-diff, synthetic control, CausalImpact, uplift modeling, propensity scoring).
  • Solid grounding in marketing measurement concepts: attribution (MTA, MMM basics), incrementality, holdouts, cohort analysis, and unit economics (CAC, LTV, payback).
  • Proficiency with experimentation: designing tests, sizing them, and reading them out with statistical rigor.
  • Proficiency with at least one BI/visualization tool (Looker, Tableau, Mode, Sigma, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills to explain models and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A bias toward action.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mobile measurement partners (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Singular) and/or paid media APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and dbt.
  • Background in gaming, sports betting, fantasy sports, or another high-velocity consumer category.
  • Experience modeling promo and bonus economics in a gaming, fintech, or e-commerce context.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain predictive models for marketing strategy, including player LTV, churn risk, CAC payback, and propensity-to-convert.
  • Own marketing attribution and incrementality analysis across various paid channels.
  • Quantify the causal impact and long-term business value of promotions, bonuses, and lifecycle campaigns.
  • Apply causal inference techniques to evaluate marketing investments where A/B tests are not feasible.
  • Partner with growth marketers to design, run, and analyze experiments (A/B tests, geo-tests, holdout studies, creative tests).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and self-serve reporting for marketing leaders.
  • Clean, structure, and validate data across the marketing stack.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, improve, and scale data usage within the marketing team.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including base salary, benefits, and equity.
  • Unlimited/Flexible paid time off.
  • Health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous parental leave.
  • $500 work-from-home stipend + Equipment & Accessories.
  • Opportunity for professional development in a dynamic, global setting.
  • A supportive, collaborative, and knowledge-driven workplace.
  • An engaging and challenging role with the freedom to innovate and develop effective solutions.
