About The Position

DaVita is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its data science team and lead healthcare-focused data science projects from concept through deployment. The role develops machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI solutions, using Python and Google Cloud Platform tools to analyze large healthcare datasets and address complex healthcare problems. The Senior Data Scientist collaborates with clinical experts and cross-functional teams to apply data-driven insights, mentors junior data scientists, communicates findings to stakeholders, and promotes sound data science and AI practices. The position requires a master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field and 4–8 years of data science or related experience, with a focus on healthcare applications. The position is based at 1991 Industrial Dr, Deland, Florida.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 4–8 years of experience in data science or a related field, focused on healthcare applications.
• Expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform tools, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, AI Platform, and Dataflow.
• Strong understanding of healthcare data sources, healthcare informatics, and clinical data standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Proven track record of leading successful data science projects in the healthcare industry.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including clinicians and healthcare professionals.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, ambulatory, or ancillary services.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) data and interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
• Experience with containerization tools and technologies, particularly Docker.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with other programming languages such as R or SQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage healthcare-focused data science projects from conceptualization to deployment.
• Develop and implement machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI models to solve healthcare problems.
• Use Python to build, test, and deploy data science solutions.
• Use the GCP software stack, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, AI Platform, and Dataflow, to manage and analyze large healthcare datasets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical experts, to integrate data-driven insights into healthcare processes.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists.
• Stay current with advancements in data science, machine learning, generative AI, and healthcare analytics.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and senior leadership.
• Ensure data science and AI best practices are followed across the team.
