About The Position

This role supports the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) as a Senior Data Scientist. The work involves directly shaping how information is understood and used across the mission. You will work with complex data systems, AI/ML technologies, and various data formats including geospatial data, JSON, and XML. Using Python and other languages, you will clean, manipulate, connect, and interpret information. The position requires digging deeper through quantitative analysis, developing visualizations, and transforming complex data into actionable insights for analysts and mission partners. As NGA modernizes its data practices, you will operate at the intersection of data science and emerging analytic capabilities to uncover patterns and relationships. This role is for individuals who enjoy solving complex problems, can identify stories within data, and want their technical work to contribute to a meaningful mission.

Requirements

Current active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
Master’s Degree + 5 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience.
Experience working with AI/ML technologies and data systems.
Experience working across multiple files and data types, including geospatial file formats, JSON, XML, and other structured or unstructured sources.
Strong experience conducting quantitative analysis, developing visualizations, and processing complex data to uncover patterns and create meaningful data-driven insights.
Development experience using Python and other programming languages for data cleaning, manipulation, processing, and analysis.

Nice To Haves

Experience applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms to extract and make sense of information contained within documents.
Experience supporting enterprise NGA analytic modernization efforts such as SOM, Computer Vision, automated collection, or automated reporting, along with an understanding of data standardization best practices.
Demonstrated expertise in mathematics, statistics, and quantitative analysis.
Experience applying analytic techniques such as classification, regression, clustering, data reduction, and casual modeling.
